The guitar that brought us Paul McCartney’s “Yesterday”, the Epiphone Texan FT-79! The FT-79 has been in production since 1942 and has had quite a few iterations over the years. Originally it was made in New York, but after being purchased by Gibson in 1957, these guitars came out of the Kalamazoo factory until 1970. In the early 2000’s, the Texan was being produced in the famous Terada Gakki plant in Japan and that’s what leads us here!
This particular FT-79 was built in 2003 in the Terada plant and definitely speaks to the quality of MIJ guitars. It did suffer a headstock break earlier in its life, but it has been repaired by a qualified tech. It has also been recently set up and given a clean bill of health by our luthiers. So if you need that Sir Paul sound, this is definitely the acoustic for you! Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions.
